Swimming Lessons for Conroe, The Woodlands, Spring & Surrounding Areas
Manta Swim Academy offers year-round swimming lessons to Spring, The Woodlands, Conroe, and all of Montgomery County. Whether you’re looking for Survival Swim lessons for your young ones or lessons for yourself, we have programs to suit your needs. We start with children as young as six months old. Please read more about all the programs we offer below.
Survival Swim
Survival Swim instruction incorporates the technique of Swim-Float-Swim which teaches young children the basics of how to float and breathe for an extended period of time in the event of a water accident, regardless of the depth of water, until they can either reach the side of the pool or shore or until help arrives. We put extra time into learning what each student needs to be successful.
Many programs teach children to lift their heads to breathe while swimming. This motion takes a significant amount of strength and energy and is, therefore, very difficult to maintain. Using this head lift will cause a child to fatigue very quickly. Infants may not be able to lift their heads at all and would not be able to save themselves. Survival Swimming incorporates being able to breathe when needed by teaching the child to roll onto their back to breathe and rest. If your child accidentally ends up in a body of water Survival Swim Lessons focuses on the skills needed to stay alive until help arrives.
Survival Swim Technique would teach your child skills that would allow them to save their own life if they were to have a water accident such as a fall or slip into a pool or body of water.
Your child will learn to float first, swim, and then float for rest. In age-appropriate situations, your child would learn to climb out of the pool and locate an edge that they can grab, or stairs so they can exit the pool. If all else fails they would float on their back until help arrives.
Your child will receive one-on-one instruction from a certified Survival Swim Instructor. Daily instruction will be tailored to your child's needs, strengths, and weaknesses. Your child will learn essential survival skills in a matter of weeks making it safer to visit locations with swimming pools, lakes, beaches or even just putting your child in the bathtub.
Basic Swim Lessons
In Basic Swim a student will learn the basic swim strokes (front crawl, elementary backstroke, treading water, and breaststroke) We focus on water safety and teach the student how to "save" themself if a water incident were to occur.
Private or semi-private lessons will be held for 30 each lesson day, we are open Monday through Thursday.
You are welcome to schedule as many lessons a week as you think necessary for your goals. We recommend at least 2 days a week for the first 5 weeks for non-swimmers. This allows the swimmer to build confidence and get the basics skills mastered as well as assist with muscle memory and endurance.
Adult Swim Lessons
It’s never too late to learn to swim. Many adults didn’t have the opportunity to learn as children, so it may seem scarier to learn as an adult. At Manta Swim Academy, we will help you get over any fears you may have and assist you in becoming a confident swimmer.

Group Lessons
At Manta Swim Academy we use Group Lessons to continue swimming growth after successfully completing a Survival Swim session, but in a fun environment with other Manta Swim Academy swimmers.
Our group lessons have no more than 5 children, all in the same age range and skill level.
To be eligible to join a group lesson, each child must be evaluated and have the skills necessary to be able to swim successfully and safely in a group setting. Survival Swim skills are a perishable skill and Group Lessons are a great way to continue swimming so that the valuable skills learned during a Survival Swim session are not lost. Group Lessons also allow children to be put in real life situation and be able to further develop necessary aquatic problem solving skills that could one day save their life.
Over the past years, many lasting friendships have developed during swim lessons and what better friends for your children to have then those that can swim.
